I've installed. There is now an mLAN manager. It is a little app with an interface that appears in the upper right corner of your screen near the date, volume control, time machine, and mobile me sync. This is a method of cleaning up three separate applications that Yamaha currently has for connection... the autoconnector, graphic patchbay, and connection manager (which appears to be the AI driver for the XS w/mLAN16e and N series mixers - Geosync can you confirm this?). Depending on what devices you own you can run peer-to-peer with one, autoconnect one or multiple, and custom wire with the graphic patchbay to one or multiple (old and new). These methods are all accessible from the mLAN manager. It is similar to what Yamaha puts in the System Tray on Windows, not exactly as there is no "APPLY" button on the Windows graphic patchbay (where patching changes are done in real time). But it cleans up the GUI and makes things simpler in general. Before the mLAN manager you had to go digging in your applications folder for which application/method you needed to use for the hardware you own. I'll post back as I learn more. |
