Transport Controls not working.
My problem is the transport controls don't work on the 01x in cubase 5, no matter what settings i put into device setup (the unnumbered ones) in cubase, i've got in touch with yamaha support (dusty ext 366700)and he said that i'm doing everything fine and it should work and he doesn't know, when i press play nothing happens the keyboard will play it and the soundcard of the 01x is fine and plays through my speakers when i press play or any buttons no midi data is regestering on the transport bar (F2) in cubase. It was working fine before but just stopped working. It's a new setup of windows XP 64 i've tried reinstalling the 64 bit driver and software which are the latest from the website and its the latest version firmware update for the 01x, i've also resorted the 01x to factory settings, i'm really lost and need help, many thanks Richard.

is your processor a quad core? I read somewhere in this forum that the win xp 64 drivers don't work fine with quad core processors so that came to my mind...

Hello. Keep in mind i am only trying to be helpful with regards to making things work so you can record your music.
01X manages a tremendous amount of DSP horsepower which usually buries most computers. With this in mind, you really only need a single-core PC like a Pentium 4 2.4GHz or faster the better. Even only using 512RAM, the 01X can get a lot of work done.
Stop banging your head against the wall and jack your 01X into a $300 dollar PC with 32-bit XP and get your studio up and running to record some music!

XP64 is probably the culprit...
But here are the basics to get the 01X transports working in Cubase (I assume the guy on the phone told you this already, but just in case):
1. Open Device Setup in Cubase
2. Find the 01X remote device and select it.
3. You will see a midi input and midi output option for the 01X. Make sure that the 01X is set to communicate on the first 01X midi channel that you find in the roll down menu. It should be something like 01X:1 or Mlan network:1. If you don't see one that rings a bell as being the first 01X midi channel, then select whatever is there and experiment with each one until one works.
note to remember: 01X communicates transport information on its own midi channel 1 (its an Mlan midi channel, not the external midi ports of the 01X!). 01X communicates with Studio Manager on its own midi channel 4.

Thanks for responding all but i've tried setting up with whats suggested the madest thing is when i first put the computer together about 3 weeks ago and install cubase 5 64 bit for the first time and set up the mlan midi in and out to the first ports it worked for a week then all of a sudden i operated the jog it moved 3 bars then stopped working, i've also got a laptop with xp pro 32bit with cubase sx3 that i used to run the 01x on, and i yesterday tried it and the soundcard worked but no transport controls again, i am starting to think its a hardware issue maybe a dry joint inside the 01x, the LED lights work for play, record and loop on the 01x when i operate them with the mouse or the keyboard on cubase so there must be power there. defo run out of ideas and by the sound of it no one has had issues like this before. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated many thanks richard!!

Try resetting your 01X
To reset the 01X hold down the Scene and Utility buttons while turning on the power of the 01X. Careful as you will loose any settings you have in the 01X. You can save these settings before resetting if required...
Try changing your FW cable.
Faulty FW cables are the most common culprit when strange things begin happenning to the 01X or I88X. Try another one and see if it helps.

Hi there, yes i've tried different firewire cable and resetting 01x to factory setting my next step is i'm installing a clean version of winXP 32 pro on my laptop and i'm going to install cubase with drivers and take it from there if that doesn't work then its got to be the 01x, i'll posts the results later, many thanks Richard.
