Re: 1.1.4 is out! My wishlist...
I decided to give it a test myself. My intital result: It works properly!

I was able to quit the GPB and restart it multiple times, and it never failed to reconnect.

I was also able to turn off my 01v96 and i88x, turn them back on, and reconnect w/o incident. I DIDN'T EVEN NEED TO REBOOT THE COMPUTER.

This was my last big gripe, and at first glance Yamaha have appeared to fix it. Right now I'm glad I held on to my mLAN gear (and not so glad I just picked up the adat card for my 01v96!).

Sleep works here too as well as device restarts and the new 'connector' fits in very well with the OS.

Can't ask for anything else apart from external wordclock, now.

Well done Yamaha.

Everything works fine here at last.
Hopefully this Mlan rollercoaster is over now,i've been so close so many times to just getting rid but now i'm glad i stuck with it.

Thanks to Yamaha for sorting this out,but i must say its about time.
And to be honest i don't understand how or why it has taken so long.

But i'm happy now

What exactly is the new connector? I've got the little connection manager thing in my toolbar, which seems like an easy way to get to the connectors... but I have no idea what it does, and I still cant get the auto connector to work like it did about 2 years ago...

Tuf,
From the 8th post in this thread,

In reply to:

There is now an mLAN manager. It is a little app with an interface that appears in the upper right corner of your screen near the date, volume control, time machine, and mobile me sync. This is a method of cleaning up three separate applications that Yamaha currently has for connection... the autoconnector, graphic patchbay, and connection manager (aka the AI driver for the XS w/mLAN16e and N series mixers).

Depending on what devices you own you can run peer-to-peer with one, autoconnect one or multiple, and custom wire with the graphic patchbay to one or multiple (old and new). These methods are all accessible from the mLAN manager. It is similar to what Yamaha puts in the System Tray on Windows, not exactly as there is no "APPLY" button on the Windows graphic patchbay (where patching changes are done in real time). But it cleans up the GUI and makes things simpler in general.

Before the mLAN manager you had to go digging in your applications folder for which application/method you needed to use for the hardware you own.

So, you can only use one method at a time. If you are trying to use the autoconnector, be sure to turn off the connection manager and graphic patchbay. If you are using the graphic patchbay, be sure to turn off the autoconnector and connection manager, etc. The new driver has documentation, take a look through it, each method is described with pictures.

But as far as I can tell, for the moment the autoconnector does not remember the last state of the GP.

There was a time when you could make a setup in GP. And the autoconnector could use it and remember it thus avoiding having to launch the GP every startup, and hit apply to get your audio setup working...

As anyone figured how to do this with today's driver?

Without going into detail of the older technology...

With OSX, you had a SUPER Autoconnector (not the real auto connector) and a Graphic Patchbay-like editor for the Super autoconnector. Actually when you hit "apply" you actually lauch the SA.

Now time warp to today
The Auto Connector remembers the "Single" mLAN device that it connects
The Device manager or AI driver remembers the "Single" AI device connection

The graphic patchbay requires that you click the "Apply" button each time.
You may find this useful...

Save your GP template and add it to your login items..
once your computer lauches (or logs in) GP will lauch with the template loaded

Just click apply or CMD(apple key) 6

Georges,

Yes that is actually the most elegant workaround that I have found so far, and it also worked with the previous version of the driver and GP.

Once the teamplate is launched at startup you just have to hit the apply button.

It would have been kind of neat if the GP could have been designed to automatically "apply" a template that was used to launched the GP. ie, when you double click a GP template to launch the GP, the GP actually applies the template. That way, when the template is a startup item that is launched at startup and then launches the GP, it wouldn't be necessary to hit apply again.

This is not absolutly necessary of course but would be kind of a neat feature to have...

There are most likely solid technical reasons why GP doesn't automatically launch. We will have to see if this condition changes when an external device can clock the system...

I'm sure all will agree that they will trade a click for a stable, effecient driver

Hey geosync,

In case you haven't noticed, there is a post in the Windows forum that I you might be able to reply to! :-)

Cheers,
