Using 01x and i88x with a a USB midi controller?
Hello,
I would like to know if it si possible to use a USB midi controller as the MPD18 AKAI in a configuration with Cubase SX3, i88x and 01X Yamaha.
Because i would like to get the fellings that I was used to when I had an MPC 2000XL.
If it is not possible with that midi controller, do you have an idea of another controller with pads and the "MPC touch"?
Thank you for helping me!
Peace
happy New Year!

What do you want to do with the MPD18?
Use its pads to trigger VST sounds?
It's USB, as long as you are using an operating system that Akai supports with drivers, you should be able to use the MPD18.
It doesn't have much to do with your 01X or i88x at all.

Thank you ElmerJFudd for answering me so fast.

I want to play with the pads with sounds from VSTi in my cubase sx3.
I was asking for this because actually my midi master keyboard is connected in MIDI port with my i88x, and I wanted to be sure that I would be able to use also the pads from the MPD18 connected to the PC in USB in the same project in cubase (because there is no traditionnal Midi port on the back of the MPD18).
Maybe this question seems a little "naïve", but i'm very far away in the country in a caribean island and there is no music store here or things like that, and I can't buy and return after easily...so I must be really sure that there is no conflicts problems by using Mlan system and Uniwire at the same time.
Thank you for the answers.

I understand.
Just make sure that Akai supports the operating system that you are using, and that the drivers are working for others. You can always check this on Akai forums. If so, you should be ready to play!

You should be able to do this without any problem. I use a Trigger Finger via USB to trigger VSTi with Cubase and it all works fine with Mlan (along with an Oxygen 8 keyboard, a Frontier Design Tranzport, the Korg MiniMoog Controller (all three USB), a Ensoniq VFX, a Roland MT-32, Roland TR505, and Yamaha DX21 (Midi into a 8x8 midi interface). The USB midi interface also has a Yamaha DTXpress drumset connected to it that will trigger VSTi in Cubase as well. The USB connected units also act as additional midi interfaces and you can connect additional midi hardware to these ports as well...
